although it is a very good idea to have a postfix configuration file I am missing a description of what this configuration actually leads to once utilized on my system.

I didin't realy understand this question. Normaly you can find the Main Information in the Kate Configuration Dialog or Open the File with Kate/Kwrite and show the Attributes from "language" Element.
