Description: This usplash strays from the normal to look different and stand out. I'm guessing most people dont know what usplash is capable of(or just don't know C). Anyways enjoy, I hope many will comment on this. The source is included in the download.
To Install: Open a terminal in the directory with the .so files. Change ** to hardy or intrepid depending on your system. Change ## to 32 or 64 depending on your system. sudo cp parallax-theme-**-##bit.so /usr/lib/usplash/parallax-theme.so sudo update-alternatives --install /etc/alternatives/usplash-artwork.so usplash-artwork.so /usr/lib/usplash/parallax-theme.so 10 sudo update-alternatives --set usplash-artwork.so /usr/lib/usplash/parallax-theme.so sudo ln -sf /etc/alternatives/usplash-artwork.so /usr/lib/usplash/usplash-artwork.so sudo update-initramfs -uk `uname -r`Last changelog:
1.1 - Support for Intrepid Ibex (8.10) / THEME_VERSION 3 No new code, just recompiled to work with the latest usplash.
I don't know the technical term, but I would like to see the words that are showing the progress of the bootload.
I tried to remove quiet but it dosen't work...
Remove quiet from the defoptions line in grub as well as the kernel lines in each grub option. Removing splash will give you all of the text, but it will also completely bypass the usplash.
This is what my hardy partition grub menu.lst looks like while showing the verbose usplash text:
## additional options to use with the default boot option, but not with the
## alternatives
## e.g. defoptions=vga=791 resume=/dev/hda5
# defoptions=splash vga=788
title Ubuntu 8.04.1, kernel 2.6.24-23-generic

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-23-generic root=UUID=ccc53cb6-7583-4513-9e54-1130b40a0e51 ro splash vga=788
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.24-23-generic
