would have tried it but I don't see why it couldn't work with mysql. Mysql works with out installing another one for 1 app . hopefully you make it qwork with both thanks
I have trouble to install your software.I'm working on SUSE 9.2 and get the error: /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i586-suse-linux/3.3.4/../../../../i586-suse-linux/bin/ld: cannot find -lqt-mt
Hi! I'm having a lot of trouble to install your software. I have to manually twick the makefile because the path are hardcoded. I'm working on Suse and apparently your makefile are oriented toward a debian installation :( Nevertheless, your software seems really good!
yes. I recon it's difficult to install... In a few days i will submit the next release candidate 1.2rc1. This release includes a better compilation system, which has been tested on SUSE and Debian, so with just a "make all" as root, all the program must be installed.
The main issue on this great looking app, is taht it runs on my beloved KDE. The reason I tell you this is because I used to work for a few years in a retail software and hardware company. They made these kind off apps and sold it also. Anyhow, the hardware used at the points-of-sale were almost not the newest computers, but older ones to save money. I recommend you to port this to a more lightweight desktop manager. Why KDE for one application, it should even be able to run standalone, saving a lot of PC-power. Cheers, J
Hi, this looks like a great application which could help fill a gap in Linux applications. Have you thought about phoning SuSE or IBM and preparing a commercial distribution? I think the typical POS is not managed by techies who like to install Linux, but by people who want to earn money and need commercial support. No matter how good the application is, especially in specialized applications like these - if there is nobody to yell at if things break, it isn't even considered. I think this application could make a LOT of impact if a reputable company were to stand behind it. And it might even bring you a job (if you don't already have one :-) Thanks, Jens
Although I do not need this kind of app now, I'd like to suggest that at least there should be a English version of homepage and screenshots. Please consider this, thanks
next release of nTPV will be prepared for translations... We are working on our website to support english version of most important sections. we are also working in a english version of nTPV LiveCD (a knoppix-based LiveCD to test nTPV)...
Jut have to ask; When is the next version expected? BTW, great idea with the livecd.
I don't actually need it, but there was no free TPV program yet and it's very nice to see this area has been covered at last. When I have the time, I think I'm going to create a few RPM packages for Suse/Mandrake/Fedora, as I haven't seen anyone anywhere.
This program is .. well i have no words, its great! I have been searching something like this for a long and all only found propietary expensive solutions. I'm trying this one at job right this evening. Looks really nice, seriuosly :-)
Have you thought about using this with any touchscreen hardware, your interface looks perfect for this. http://tuxmobil.org/touch_laptops.html
Of course. Elo Touch Screens :). Take a look at the button sizes...
I just couldnt help but post. I didnt mean to laugh at this "it's evolving into a general purpose POS" but I couldnt help it. Nice looking app all the same.
Well, actually I don't need it but it's good to see this project.
