It's important to have your favorites at the first access with the minimum number of clicks and movements. Good good design is a must and this app has a very nice one.
Tab animation durations are defined here [1]. I'm not sure if it's possible to override this from a plasmoid without copying all the stuff over (I'm not really into QML so I may be wrong).

Did you consider disabling animations via a slider in the System Settings?
Alternatively, you can make a script to patch TabGroup.qml to use the durations you want manually (it'll be reset back on plasma updates):
sudo sed -i 's/PlasmaCore.Units.longDuration/PlasmaCore.Units.shortDuration/g' /usr/lib/qt/qml/org/kde/plasma/components/TabGroup.qml
Thank you. I was hoping to switch to the new kickoff [1, 2] once it's released and wasn't really planning on adding new non-trivial stuff, so it's probably out of scope, sorry.

Ha, so it's finally going to be retired. I think it's about time. We came up with the UI in 2005 [1], when I still thought the original IPod's sliding tab interface was pretty nifty and a way to save screen space on the 1024x768 displays of the era.

I like that you have a way to disable subtitles in Favorites and in Applications, but is there any way to disable them in the other tabs too? Like in Computer, History, and Leave. Just to give the whole thing a more cohesive look.
I first want to say thanks for responding so fast and working on it so quickly, I install the update but the hide subtitles doesn't seem to be working.
10Rated 10/10. I like the way I can increase the number of columns as I increase the number of favourites. Also that it displays item descriptions. Loads quickly too.
8 great
I use this menu with newer plasma versions and it is super fantastic..however it will not work in Plasma 5.14 which is the version in Debian. Is it possible to get it running in Plasma 5.14?

Is there any way to change the speed of the animation when you select each tab? Or add an option to disable it all together?

I might look into that, it's not a deal breaker or anything. Was just curious.
An excellent option. A new view / tab possibility with all applications like launchpad or KickerDashboard would be great.

Hey there! I've added options to hide subtitles and change icon sizes for those tabs (version 5.19.5.0).

I stand corrected, just needed to reboot. Everything works great. Changed rating to 10. Thanks for your work.
10 This is excellent. Thanks mate. What is that UI font?
Thank you. The font is Fira Sans Condensed (or maybe Compressed).
