What KDE version are you using ?
Is the 'start-here-kde' icon avaible in /usr/share/icons ?
Uninstall and try installing through "Plasma Add-On Installer"
Laptop, Plasma 5.21.5, yes it is on places folder for breeze. There is literally no difference between installing through Plasma Add-On Installer and downloading then unpacking on ~/.local/share/plasma/plasmoids

I can't seem to be able to make it work. I downloaded it and tried to add to the panel but it's not being added.
Please check you are running the updated version. Version 1.0.0 may not work.
It is the latest available here on Pling, v1.1.0
