6 What knecker and deadshort said! One of the 2 eye candies I was missing (Desktop Cube with background pic as well). Now this is new and admittedly doesn't aim to be perfect. It worked fine here on Manjaro with Plasma 5.27.4 . But I only later noticed it probably has a side effect? (I only assume it comes from this effect since I had nothing else changed.): When you have multiple screens. Once you click on one screen, it raises the brightness of it (or dims the brightness of the others). This stays even after you deactivate Active Blur, even after you uninstall it! I had to roll back my system since it was an unwanted effect for me. Then I too noticed it gives a non-candy effect when you use it with more than one Activity (and you've once switched between them) and Force Blur and Magic Lamp (a minimizing effect) or Wobbly Windows. The latter two effects are affected in that they leave blurry traces for short: A blurred copy of the size of the just minimized window (Magic Lamp) and blurry traces around the window when you move/wobble a window around (Wobbly Windows). Apart from the interference with the just mentioned Desktop Effects (Magic Lamp, Wobbly Windows, installed by default) and the third-party Window script (Force Blur), I am sure it works as intended. What I am interested in to know: If the brightness per screen issue (or feature?) occurs for others as well. (if not, maybe it has other causes which however seem unclear to me).
Hello, thank you for your feedback. I don't have any problem on my side with my two screens. I'll see if I can reproduce the problem, can you create a ticket on github ? (https://github.com/bouteillerAlan/blurredwallpaper) Maybe with a video ? For the effects like Magic Lamp or Wobbly Windows it's totally normal because of the way the windows and the blur are rendered in plasma, unfortunately I can't do anything about it :/ (more information here https://github.com/bouteillerAlan/blurredwallpaper/issues/1#issuecomment-1509593892)
Thank you. I don't think screen brightness is viewable in videos? I tried back then with a screenshot and could not see it...
I was thinking more of a video taken with a phone :)
Ok, sorry, maybe when I cleaned up my Desk's Top :p And reinstalled Active Blur. But do believe me, it's real. Brightness was up by a bit, notably though.
I'm too afraid of the bug, I had to reinstall the system last time, because it wouldn't go away.
I understand, but I can't do anything unless I have more information, I also have two screens connected to my laptop, force blur and a lot of plugins and I don't reproduce the problem. Is the problem present on an installation that only has this plugin?
Maybe Force Blur with the setting "Apply all but matching" and then 3 Activities, one of which has Active Blur with a Slideshow, plus a Plasmoid Web Browser, Simple Monitor Plasmoid on the Activity without Active Blur.
I do have a similar multimonitor setup here and I can not reproduce the error. Sounds like a freakish glitch. Taking a look at the code of the plugin, I could not think of anything, that would produce the unwanted results you experienced.
10 Finally! A working alternative to the broken and no longer maintained "Inactive Blur" by Zren. What can I say? It does what it should in KDE Plasma 5.27
9 9 excellent
10 Works flawlessly on Wayland so far, very nice! Maybe add an option to only look for active an window on same/other screen.
10 Nice, it works!
10 Thanks for slideshow. Much needed plugin
