Seems to work for caps lock only.

On Plasma 5.27.7 by the way.

7 I prefer this to the Keyboard Indicator widget that came with my Kubuntu. At least this can show both caps lock and num lock at the same time. It's not pretty, but it's a little better if you spend a moment configuring the font.

6 Many of the layout combinations don't work. E.g., with the Caps and Num lock display enabled and both locked, only the most recent lock appears in rectangle+horizontal layout and, in rectangle+vertical, only a part of the second rectangle appears in the panel. In general, the relative sizes of the rectangle/text/symbol and the panel space occupied by the widget don't adjust correctly for displaying states of multiple keys.

vinceaggrippino

The widget just displays text. Set a smaller/better looking font under the widget's appearance settings and everything will show.

2 Because of a new laptop I installed a new linux with plasma 5.20.4, KDE framework 5.76.0 As usually I also installed the KeyState plasmoid. But what's that? No function any more. It shows just an empty areas in the taskbar. I tried it to install directly by plasmoid-install. And I also tried to install it by manually download the file and install it from disk. Both installation types doesn't work any more...

Hi. Is it still maintained? Doesn't get it to work with Plasma 5.20.1, KDE framework 5.76.0

9 Works perfect

I use Manjaro KDE. If I enabled "Caps" the widget moves to the left of the panel about 20 pixels. This happens only with Caps, not with "Num". I've tried with many different panel heights and fonts. If I press Caps again the text "Caps" dissapear and the widget moves back to the right. It happens also with the layout Rectangle and Symbol.

I have solved this but I don't know how to delete this comment.

Hi Martin, I would like to translate in Italian language your good Key State plasmoid. Could you give to me any instruction for it? Many thanks...

Hi Martin, Thanks for this great plasmoid. I'd like to request a new feature: When a state of a key CHANGES, an OSD or a notification would be great to show up (sometimes I can't notice that I accidentally pressed the CapsLock key). On certain notebooks (ThinkPad+Windows, Chromebook) a small OSD indicates the key state in the bottom-left corner by default. As far as I know QT doesn't support to scale and position OSD therefore a simple kdialog would be great, at least for me. Here's a sample: $ kdialog --title 'CapsLock' --passivepopup 'ON' 1 In case others like this and so can you, could you implement this into your code, please? (An OSD example in another project: https://github.com/KDE/plasma-pa/blob/master/applet/contents/ui/main.qml) Thank you in advance, Gyorgy

I have a Logitech keyboard with a Fn key which determines the role of the F-keys. Alas there is no indicator on the keyboard if the key is activated. Would it be possible to add an indicator for the Fn key to your widget?

janet

Nice to have it for Plasma/KF 5, thanks. Would it be possible to offer a look like this http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=152082? Would be much better visible.

rrxx69

though some graphical issues, it's cool:-)

rrxx69

What about a color changing color feature, from white/black/gray to color? or a frame? It will increase visibility! 90% cool.

Lack of such widget was the last thing preventing me from moving from ubuntu to kubuntu - thanks

roctheme

But it would be better, if the KeyState only become visible in system tray, if an key was pressed. http://imgur.com/hJ0GQmu http://imgur.com/HiDUCjz

janet

No please don't! Blank space is confusing. IMHO better: active key = green background or that plasma blue and inactive key transparent background and dark or light grey font color (depending on theme/panel background) - like this: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=152082

roctheme

"No please don't! Blank space is confusing" But this is exactly, what I mean: Now there is, if no Key is active, a blank space in the system tray area. But I think there is an option, to set the KeyState inactive (hide the symbol) if no Key is pressed.

janet

So you meant to completely hide the icon in case no key ist pressed? And I meant I want to see the icon even if no key is pressed :). Preferably not blank but greyed out text/symbol. Would be great if there were more options for look & feel :). I don't want my panel layout to change when I press a key, I want to have all symbols in place at all times.
